According to the latest report published by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, suicide rates have spiked among veterans. It’s needless to say, veterans deserve unparalleled counselling and mental health care for all the sacrifices that they’ve made for our country. Twenty to 30 percent of veterans who commit suicide have screened positive for post-traumatic stress disorder. Many more go undiagnosed. Of those veterans who have been diagnosed with PTSD, more than half are not receiving the treatment they need.
According to statistics, 30 percent of veterans from the Vietnam War suffer from PTSD, while another 11 to 20 percent of veterans from the Gulf War, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Enduring Freedom also suffer from PTSD.
There is hope through virtual reality (VR), a reliable technology that’s commonly used in video games but has also proven to help veterans suffering from PTSD.
2B3D has partnered with the veteran-owned nonprofit Forge Forward Project to develop VRx Solutions, a virtual reality technology to treat veterans’ PTSD and eliminate veteran suicide rates. With this VR technology, veterans will be empowered by providing them with access to reliable mental health resources and allowing them to connect with family and friends, irrespective of their location. With VRx, veterans will be able to find peace and healing through gaming and community building.
VRx will allow veterans to use this unique VR technology to meet with crisis management counselors and therapists. Additionally, veterans will have access to over twenty different VR environments designed to feel comforting and safe, especially while experiencing stress response measurements due to PTSD.
In a VRx virtual space, veterans will be able to connect with therapists and crisis response management, irrespective of the geographical locations (the veterans can be in their home or overseas, VR will deliver equally reliable outcomes). VRx will ensure that veterans get help in the most crucial times. With this technology, there won’t be weeks of waiting and appointment scheduling. With instant access to therapy, is veterans can get the help they need when they need it.
VRx provides a way for veterans to be transported away from stressful environments.. Veterans will be able to connect with their friends and family virtually, with access to homerooms where they can watch movies, talk, and play video games together. The prime idea is to curate a community of like-minded people and people who have witnessed similar experiences and avoid isolation while ensuring a connection.
Offering Initial Consults
As an organization owned and operated by veterans who are committed to helping users find peace and healing through VR technology, 2B3D understands the need for quality mental health services. VRx is particularly designed for veterans and their families to strengthen their mental health and heal trauma. Veterans can request medical consultations at their homes without any time restrictions.
Military Veteran Rewards For Free Therapy Access
Virtual reality will deliver better outcomes where video conference-based consultation fails. Veterans will be able to connect with mental health professionals through customized avatars for personalized online interactions. This portal is more than access to VR-based therapy since it allows the veterans to rally, play games, spend time with colleagues or friends, and regroup around the globe.
Using VR headsets preloaded with VRx, veterans can step into an interactive virtual environment that’s integrated with neurocognitive VR games. These games are designed by neuropsychologists and neuroscientists to enhance the bloodflow to specific portions of the brain and jumpstart the healing process. VRx is still under development and there is a need for financial partners to help with the progression of this project.
2B3D is currently in search of major partners who can donate and help complete this. The ultimate goal of the project is to provide veterans with community and resources while eliminating the stigma around mental health.
How Will a 2B3D and Forge Forward Project Partnership Benefit Veterans?
Forge Forward Project brings almost a decade worth of neuroscience and neurocognitive experience, to the virtual space. With the help of the Forge Forward Project, VRx will be able to help veterans in dozens of different virtual experiences and mini-games.
